Ok - Another Cardinal

I was paying a visit at my sister-in-law's house and there was this cardinal...  He allowed me to get pretty close before he hopped off...  Never did loose his treat in his beak!!

Just Can't Help Myself

I just can't help myself - when a brilliantly colored Cardinal lands on the feeder and "poses" - I just have to take a photo...

Ms Lady Cardinal

Ms Lady Cardinal visited today.  She is normally very skittish, but today she stayed long enough for me to go and get a camera, turn it on, set it up, focus and shoot.  She stayed still for a couple of poses - as if posing for a portrait.  No if I could only get Mr. to sit still...

Local Cardinal

This guy is teasing me - he lands for a fraction of a second - barely time to focus and snap... I keep chasing and he keeps running. It seems the Blue Jay is faster yet!!

Ok - I've got the catching the red bird down - now my sights are set on a blue one (and red, and yellow, and an eagle if they should show up).

A Surprise Visitor

I've seen probably 2 cardinals flying around our house in the 10 years we've lived here. Yesterday as I was setting up my camera to monitor the bird feeder this cardinal flew in to visit. He surprised me, plus he didn't stay long, so I barely had time to focus.They're not perfect photos by any means, but I will work on that - I just hope it won't be another 10 years before the next cardinal stops by to visit.

I don't know enough about birds to know what kind of bird the tail belongs to sitting on the other side of the feeder - but it must be good food!!

Cardinals

Gorgeous cardinals all over. Tom and Linn live on an acreage and have been feeding the birds for a long time. In Waterloo I'm lucky if I see one cardinal a YEAR and trying to get a photograph is, well, as difficult as my getting an Eagle picture has been. But, yesterday I saw so many cardinals, male and female, that I was like a kid in a candy store with only a dime to spend - what do I shoot (photographically)? We're in Iowa so this is heaven and this acreage certainly reflects that beauty.
