Robert-It looks like the bud of a bachelor's button (or cornflower.) They come in pink, purple, and white, but the blue is just a gorgeous bright color. (Did you mess with the color!!??) It looks like the hardy variety that comes up as a perennial, but they can also be grown from seed. Did Thurston plant it? Thanks for asking! Mother Nature PS-Lovely composition in your photo!
After graduating from High School in May 1969 and while attending College I received my draft notice for the U. S. Army. Not caring for the color green I chose to follow in my Uncle’s footsteps and I joined the U. S. Navy in January 1971...30 years later...
