Motion

Motion + Photo = video - that is what most people believe. Is it possible to depict motion in a still photo? Yes - take a picture of a 3 year old.

As a follow up to my post about the Robin's Nest. It appears that our Robins failed their course in engineering and their condo collapsed. The good news is that were no eggs in the wreckage on the driveway.

A Robin Condo

A Robin condo. This is really quite an engineering feat as they have bulit their nest on a round platform. I don't have the heart to knock it down, so I will let nature takes its course. I'll also keep the light off so the eggs don't cook...

Sunset on Golf Course

We were driving home from choir last night and I noticed the sun setting on the golf course. I did a bat turn in traffic so I could get a picture. As I was printing this last night I noticed a bird at the top of the tree in the middle - it's probably an Eagle "taunting" me. I'll get a good picture of an Eagle some day...

I was playing around with the photo and ended up painting it with Corel Paint4. It turned out pretty good.

Flower

This is in my front yard - both my wife and I have brown thumbs and if we try to plant it, grow it, or cultivate it, it [flowers, trees, shrubs, vegtables] dies... So, when nature plants it and grows it- in our yard - we must take a picture.

Mount Mercy College Admin Building

The photography club I belong to in Cedar Rapids did a night photo shoot at Mount Mercy College. A college had a staff member take us around to a couple of locations. This shot was taken from the penthouse floor in one of the dorms and is a view of the top of the administration building taken at sunset.

In Search of Eagles, but...

...found only a pizza guy... It's surprising, but by carrying a camera around one can get some "different" photos that would otherwise fade into a memory.

More Peppers

More peppers - I used Photoshop to isolate each color. Here is the series. I suppose I could have stretched this into 4 days worth of pictures - but, what fun is that? My favorite is the green as it is a crisper black and white. Yours...?

Visitors

I was visiting my sister-in-law yesterday and noticed in her backyard that she had visitors. She loves animals and puts out feed. She says that the ducks peck on the window if the food has not been put out.

Cloudy Moon

The clouds, the moon, the colors - they all just blend so well in this photograph. It supposed to be cloudy and rainy next week so I will move on to something other than the moon.

You Want to Do What?!?

I hate to re-cycle photos - but, this is one of my favorite pictures. I took this last year. I saw this chocolate bunny rabbit at Target and the eyes just said, "You want to do what?"

I was playing around with a timed exposure and here is one of the pictures. The red and white streaks are cars that passed though while the lens was open.

Moon Painting

The moon was out again last night. This time I waited until it was dark before taking photos. I wasn't happy with the top picture, but then decided to play around a bit. I opened my aperature wide open, set the shutter speed to BULB and held the aperature open while I moved the camera around. The results are below. I added the color in Photoshop for effect... I call it "Moon Painting".

No Eagles But Found A Moon

Went in search of Eagles [again] at Lake Alice and found the Moon [no Eagles (again)]...

It was a very narrow window of opportunity as the clouds rolled in and there was no visible moon for the rest of the night.

Ok - 2 pictures in one day. My youngest daughter is visiting from Minnesota and we went to the Little Tokoyo Restaurant where they cook your meal in front of you. A good time and good food. I took my camera and snapped a coupple of photos - here's the best.

Eagle Search

Continuing the Eagle Search my wife and I went back to the park. This time we did find a tree with about 20 Eagles. They pretty much stayed there and didn't give me much of an opportunity for a photo. I snapped the one above as an Eagle was coming in for a landing. Now - I'm lusting after a 100 mm-400 mm Zoom lens with a 25 mm extension tube so that I can get close with the camera - without being closer physically.
